Genesis Timb - Image 1

Genesis Timb

For the America Needs Creatives collection, the genesis boot was reimagined into a timberland color way. Inspired by a summer in the midwest, I really wanted to lean into an Americana style for much of the pieces in the collection. This was no exception. For each collection I create I want to create footwear that attempts to go against the status quo. For the genesis boot, it was created as a silhouette that one could dress up on a date night or dress down with sweatpants to go for a coffee run. I felt that there were really no other boots in the fashion space that did so. For Season 2, I wanted to bring this boot back because I wanted to reimagine it in an Americana style. I was inspired by cowboy boots and my east coast heritage in timberland boots, so I thought, why not fuse the two into one? The desert colored nubuck is used extensively in cowboy boots and western clothing, but also is an immediate reference to the iconic timberland boot. Thus, it became the perfect option for the genesis boot. It was created with a 4 oz nubuck and a 3 oz inner brown leather. I also added brass d-ring eyelets and some danner laces that resembled exactly that of a timberland. I then sourced a vibram bifida 1375 outsole in a brown color way from the only place I could find in the world; a small mom and pop shop located in Greece that I got a hold of via email. I then added hand painted patches of my own logo on the insole of the boots and behind the tongue. But I still felt as if the boot was missing something and it did not differ enough from the season 1 boot. So, to make this boot stand out, I added a removable tassel to the tongue. This idea first stemmed from how people wear timbs casually; often you see the tongue flipped over and the boots loosened, so I thought, how can I do the same with my own but make it even more recognizable? A tassel. Tassels can be found on western clothing or old school loafers, and I wanted to give this version of the boot an extra flair by also referencing the flipped over tongue on timberlands. All in all, the boot acts a substitute for a timberland boot, as it can be worn in a high fashion space, or even on a coffee run.
