Mountain Stack Jeans - Image 1

Mountain Stack Jeans

The final piece in the Genesis collection. To make the collection more well-rounded, I felt as if it needed another pair of pants. For this piece I took inspiration from mountain ranges and the interaction between pants and shoes. Some may say that around the ankle of a pair of pants and the shoes you are wearing are the most important interaction of an outfit; it can make or break it. Although stacked jeans have gone through cycles in fashion, they always sort of intrigued me because of their specific interaction to the shoes you are wearing. To bring more attention to this, I chose to involve nature. Mountain ranges are jagged and have no distinct shape, they are different across the world. With the volcanoes in the northwest and flying over the Swiss Alps back in April, I was inspired to call back to these memories. The basis for white denim was chosen in anticipation of painting the pants different colors: any other color denim would have shown through the paint too much for my liking. I chose the style of sailor pants pockets to bring more uniqueness to the pants. It is not typical that you see sailor pants pockets on anything other than sailor pants. I used acrylic paint, a foam paint roller, and paint brushes to paint the 'sky' and mountains. I chose a button fly for this pair of pants simply because I believe the button fly is far more superior than the zipper fly.
